Innovation Bay and AWS have teamed up to present a weekly virtual series featuring in-depth interviews with startup founders and technology leaders.
For this session host Rachael Neumann (Head of Startups ANZ at AWS) is joined by Rachel Yang Investment Manager, at venture capital fund, Giant Leap.
Giant Leap is Australia’s first venture capital fund dedicated to investing in rapidly scalable, early stage businesses that fuse profit and purpose across three impact themes: health and wellbeing, sustainable living, and empowering people. Giant Leap has 18 portfolio companies to date. The fund is backed by the Impact Investment Group, a leading Australian funds manager whose mission is to shift capital towards impact investments.
Host Rachael will bring her deep knowledge of fundraising and ask Rachel to share her thoughts on the current investment landscape – what’s changed, what’s making her nervous and what she is optimistic about. We’ll also discuss whether recent events will be a catalyst for more impact investing? Will we see growth and innovation in sectors like health and education, and other global issues like climate change?
Rachel is also on the Board of Startup Victoria, a grassroots organisation supporting founders to succeed. What changes and implementation has Rachel seen from the Board of such an important community organisation to support and grow founders?
Rachel has a background in management consulting and corporate finance, and co-founded an NFP which helped raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease.
