About KPMG Futures

With an exciting mandate to do things differently, we’re investing in and evolving this specialist team to focus on the future – including future sectors, future technologies, future services, future business models and more.  KPMG Futures will pursue opportunities in areas such as quantum computing, Web 3.0, the metaverse and next-gen AI.  One of our main objectives is to build a portfolio of game-changing businesses. Core to this objective is our venture partnering capability which aims to create strategic collaborations between our firm and ground-breaking start-ups to solve our clients most pressing problems.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for someone with a true passion for start-ups and technology; and the drive to reshape what a business advisor can be for their clients. You will become an integral part of our Venture Partnering team and be involved in the entire process from scouting, to investment, to working with our KPMG service lines, our clients, and start-up partners to create win-win-win outcomes. The role is a bridge-builder between the start-up ecosystem and KPMG – relentlessly pursuing commercial opportunities for KPMG to team up with start-ups for joint-value creation.

Your Opportunity

Your primary role will be to help across the full life cycle of venture partnering. Working with the Director of Venture Partnering you will:

  • Scout and prioritise potential start-ups to form a strategic collaboration together
  • Build the investment case and joint value proposition
  • Construct the joint operating model between KPMG and the start-up
  • Stand up the new joint operating model
  • Grow and scale the partnership to benefit both KPMG and the start-up by creating value for our clients
  • Build and maintain great relationships with various stakeholders across our portfolio of partners, our KPMG business units and the broader start-up ecosystem

How Are You Extraordinary

  • 3-5 years of experience in either or combination of: a start-up technology business (ideally a strategy role); an investment group (VC/PE); a top-tier advisory or consulting firm; and/or a business building role in a renowned talent accelerator or start-up incubator
  • You can connect technology and commercial opportunities in ways that others may not see, both in the current environment and looking into the future
  • You have a strong desire and are passionate about engaging the whole start-up ecosystem, and by leveraging the relationships you build, you will help to develop a great pipeline of start-ups for us to partner with
  • You understand technology and have a strong personal interest in your own development and knowledge building, staying abreast of the future of technology and the start-up industry
  • You are a self-starter, are comfortable working in agile environments that operate at pace and scale, and can work independently while engaging various stakeholder groups to deliver your outcomes
  • You are a strategic thinker, can present ideas both verbally and in writing with clarity. You are confident in gathering information, analysing, and synthesising information to present recommendations that are well researched to senior decision makers
