Program Manager, Investor Communities

The Program Manager role sits across both of our investor communities, Aurora (Venture Capital) and Horizon (Angel Investors) reporting into the Director of Horizon and working closely with our co-founder, Ian Gardiner.

This role will be responsible for execution of membership strategies for our investor communities. Covering a mix of events, content, marketing and operations, the primary focus will be in supporting the membership directors in driving value and engagement for our members. We drive value in a couple of key ways, Community, Education and Deal Flow. These pillars are centred around unique events and quality content.

What we will be looking for,

  • Knowledge and experience in running events. We will run 15-20 events for these communities in 2022 which range from three day adventures to one hour online seminars. While we have a centralised events team, hands-on experience in event management is a key component to the role.
  • Membership management. Experience in managing and growing a membership structure is highly desirable, especially within an investors environment.
  • A passion for working with investors who are driving innovation and change. We feel privileged to work with an amazing group of game changers. We are an impact driven business that focuses on supporting founders and investors.
  • Experience or capability to deliver a program of content and events over a year. Being able to write well and craft concise and clear communications is a must.
  • Ability to work in a small, autonomous and fast-paced environment.

We have now established an amazing group of members, who range from venture partners to HNW angel investors. Our mission is to drive the volume of investing into early stage tech and unite the industry into a common and collaborative community. We do this by bringing our members together to connect and discuss topics that directly impact their ability to be successful.

Innovation Bay is Australia’s oldest and most respected community of tech founders and investors. Our community is centred P2P learning and relationship building. We have created four key communities within Innovation Bay,

  1. Summit (later stage founders)
  2. Aurora (venture capital partners)
  3. Horizon (tech HNW investors)
  4. Canopy (seed stage founders)

We have spent the past two years evolving our business model to support the growth of these four key communities. Why, because we believe that by supporting founders, VC’s and early stage investors within an inter connected community, will help us build a national startup tech ecosystem.

What personal characteristics are we looking for?

  1. A network builder. Someone who is relationship focused and loves building meaningful partnerships. This requires astute commercial acumen to determine who to partner with, based upon a mix of analytical research, investigation and personality. You will listen more than you talk.
  2. You will be a planner and love establishing structured goals that you measure yourself against. Innovation Bay provides a lot of autonomy. You will be self motivated and driven. In order to succeed, you will have to try new things and approach this with an analytic mindset to determine impact.
  3. You will be entrepreneurial. This role doesn’t have a guide book, so it will require a load of initiative and original thinking. We are looking for someone who understands how to build and take something to market.
