How to research fit
Look at each firm's recent investments, the partner who would lead your deal and the size of their current fund. A firm that just invested in a competitor, or does not lead at your stage, is unlikely to be a fit.
Read how partners talk about their thesis in interviews and podcasts. Our guide to venture capital in Australia explains the stages and what firms look for.
For a much longer list, including angels, venture debt and grants, Airtree keeps a regularly updated open-source investor list.
Getting a warm introduction
Warm introductions from founders in a firm's portfolio or from investors they trust work far better than cold emails. Keep your intro request short: what you do, your traction and what you are raising.
